Meet Dan
I built my first website with old school HTML in 2004. It was a bit wonky but did the job.
Since then I’ve picked up an unusual combination of skills and experience that make me an unconventional web designer.
I’ve been a copywriter, an event manager and a marketing director to name a few.
I helped build The Adventurists from an idea into a global adventure travel company generating over £2 million in annual revenue. A four year stint as managing director gave me in-depth experience running all aspects of a growing company. The operation spanned time zones, cultures and multiple disciplines from customer service to crisis management.
Throughout a varied career the constant has been selling via websites.
Now I’m combining my technical and creative skills with the knowledge and perspective that only comes from running a small business yourself.
The result is South Pier, a brand new web design, creative content and hosting service based in Weymouth, Dorset.

Peregrine Electrical: Website + Logo
Dave knew that his one page Squarespace website with clunky mobile formatting was holding back his Bristol based electrical services business.
I created a simple but striking new logo paired with a colour scheme and complimentary font. The website was rebuilt on WordPress with a customised template and designed as a foundation to support future growth plans.
The essentials are now in place to showcase Dave’s services and client reviews. The overall goal of the site is to generate more inbound enquiries and communicate his business identity – reliability and professionalism.
Now the core website is in place Dave has already booked in with South Pier for a second round of updates to support his business goals for this year.
New content will focus on specific services as he shifts his business from general electrical services to specialist areas.
Those updates will be designed to work across his website, social media, emails and even in print.
Cost effective modifications to the digital content will increase the value for money by extending its use to physical marketing materials he can put into potential customers’ hands.
We’ll also be working together to improve his visibility in search engines and on Google Maps.
